The conference will contribute to the development of an African ocean policy instrument by serving as a milestone for targeted technical input towards an African Ocean Policy Summit to be held in mid-2015. The Conference will also aim at agreeing on an approach to undertake a research on the state of maritime training, education, research and innovation on the continent; reaching consensus on the process to implement the 2050 AIM Strategy in the field of training, education, research and innovation; and making concrete advances towards the establishment of a continental body to coordinate and drive the capacity development agenda in the field. The conference will provide attendees with an opportunity to strategize on how best to approach and coordinate issues related to maritime education, training, research and policy at a continental level whilst recognising the significance of developing human capacity as a key pillar of the 2050 AIM Strategy.
The African Maritime Domain Conference takes place from the 10th to the 12th of November 2014 at the Boardwalk International Convention Centre, Nelson Mandela Bay.
